Montevideo

Dean Runyon, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, June 23, 1998 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo at the age of 67.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 26, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Alvin G. Lewis, Jr. officiating.  Burial was in the Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery of Baxter Township.

Rhodean Curtis Ansel Runyon was born on February 11, 1931 in Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota to Rollie and Alma (Rhyne) Runyon.  He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, MN and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church.  He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1949.  From 1950 - 1954 he served in the US Navy, serving on board the USS Bataan.  On January 15, 1955 he was united in marriage to Arlene Moseng at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter.  They lived in Montevideo before moving to Pottstown, PA, San Antonio, TX and Minneapolis, MN before returning to Montevideo in 1992.  Dean worked for NSP and moved on to train in the computer industry, retiring from Control Data in 1988.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.

Dean is survived by his wife, Arlene; one daughter, Cindy Agre and her husband Larry of Montevideo, MN; one son, Bradley Runyon of Champlin, MN; four grandchildren: Ryan Agre and his wife Marcy of Eden Prairie, MN and Nathan, Tristan and Lacey Agre all of Montevideo, MN; four sisters: Ruth Bebout and her husband Frank of Seattle, WA, Marjorie Moen of Montevideo, MN, Deloris Berg and her husband Telford of Clarkfield, MN, and his twin sister, Rhodena (Ardath)Johnson of Pierz, MN; his father-in-law, Edwin Moseng of Montevideo, MN; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter who died at birth; four sisters: Vesta Kaupang, Charlotte Quammen, Dorothy Hinz, and Viola Jane Runyon; and his mother-in-law, Ruth Moseng.
