Delanoe Anderson, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 en route to the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN at the age of 69. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Joe Schularick officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, with the family present from 5 - 6:30 PM and with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Delanoe Allen Anderson was born on October 7, 1937 in Louriston Township of Chippewa County, MN to Albin and Alice (Mellgren) Anderson. He was baptized February 13, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church where he was later confirmed. Delanoe grew up in the Clara City area and graduated from Clara City High School in 1955. On August 22, 1959 he was united in marriage to Darlene Christianson at Bethel Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. They lived and farmed at his family farm in Louriston Township until moving into Montevideo in 1961, where he worked for A & H Laundry. In 1963 they moved to their farm in Sparta Township and he worked at Rau Safety Center for several years before buying the business in 1968. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He was also a Boy Scout Troop leader in Troop 557 and a member of the Order Of The Arrow and had spent 11 years as a member of the National Guard including training at the Northern Warfare Training Center in Alaska. He was a kind and gentle man and loved to fish. He enjoyed watching auto racing and sports, playing cards, gardening and was proud of and loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; three children: Jack (and Karla) Anderson of Montevideo, Jeff Anderson (and friend Lori Zehm) of New Ulm, MN and Kayla (and Corey) Reiffenberger of Aberdeen, SD; two grandchildren: Kendyl and Calin Anderson; two brothers: Dwaine Anderson of Minneapolis, MN and Ardell Anderson of Cape Fair, MO; three sisters: Alma Angle of Waco, TX, Eleanor Gerdes of Kerkhoven, MN and Pauline Leason of Willmar, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy; a daughter, Shelly; a sister, Helen Perleberg; and a brother, Vernol Anderson.
