Delbert Lester Christenson

Delbert Christenson, of Montevideo, died suddenly on Friday October 4, 1996 at the Appleton Municipal Hospital at the age of 68.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday October 7, 1996 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton and Rev. Douglas Olson officiating.  Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Delbert Lester Christenson was born on September 13, 1928 in Mandt Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Casper and Inga (Pederson) Christenson.  He was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo.  He attended schools at District #64 in Chippewa Co. He served in the U S Navy during WWII.  On March 24, 1950 he was united in marriage to Norma Johnson at Our Savior's Lutheran Parsonage in Montevideo.  He worked for Victor Fluid Power in Granite Falls before retiring.  He has lived in Montevideo, Granite Falls, Forest Lake, and Big Lake, MN; and had moved back to Montevideo in July of 1996.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling and was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife - Norma; by a daughter - Jill Ross and her husband Elroy of Big Lake, MN; by sons - Brian Christenson and his wife - Kathy of Chisago City, MN; Mark Christenson and his wife - Bev of Lino Lakes, MN; and Bradley Christenson and his wife Patty of Forest Lake, MN;  7 grandchildren - Eric and his wife Sara; Dusty, Adam, Evan and Bret Christenson and Amanda and Kelli Ross; a great grandchild - Zachary Christenson; Brothers - Arthur (Alice) Christenson of Montevideo; Selmer (Wilma) Christenson of Coon Rapids, MN; and Milfred (Murial) Christenson of Lincoln, NE; by sisters - Lois (Alfred) Hoefs of Hutchinson, MN; Ione (Arnold) Seeman of Montevideo; Avis Kittelson of Montevideo; Arlene(Edgar) Pitt of Montevideo and Barbara(Douglas) Bosch of Montevideo as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a son - Todd and by a son in infancy; by a sister - Elna Jacobson and by brothers - Clifford and Harold Christenson.
