Della Wiegers died Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson. Rev. Larry Olson will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens of rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M.
Della Bertha (Marquardt) Wiegers was born July 21, 1916 at Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, MN the daughter of John and Ella (Theide) Marquardt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church and attended parochial school until the 8th grade. Della was united in marriage with Karl Wiegers on December 23, 1937 at Canby, MN. They lived in Granite Falls before moving to a farm near Boyd in 1947. They farmed there until 1970 when they moved to Minneapolis. She worked at Lee Wards Craft Store and then for Safe Way Hydraulics. They moved to Parkview Towers in Montevideo in 2003. Karl died May 14, 2004. Della moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home in February of 2007. She enjoyed baking, playing cards and marbles, quilting, wrapping hangers and visiting.
She is survived by four children: Beverly Loose and her special friend Veryl of Clarkfield, MN, Stanley Wiegers and his wife Lois of Plymouth, MN, Donna Olson and her husband Dennis of Watson, MN, and Betty Westre and her husband Chris of Rogers, MN; six grandchildren: Karla Walters, Elaine (and Joe) Coubal, James (and Tammy) Loose, Amy (and Jim) Schlader, Kim Olson, and Ryan (and fiance Abby) Westre; twelve great-grandchildren: Nate and Danielle Schlader, Steven Coubal, Alisha (and Jeremy) Banken, Andy (and fiance Becky) Coubal, Joey Coubal, Kristel (and friend Dave) Walters, Kelly (and Jason) Nurmi, Dayna (and friend Gary) Walters, Kjersti (and Joel) Christy, Brittney (and Tom) Svitak, and Samarah Loose; one great-great-grandchild, Kade Christy and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Karl in 2004; two brothers: Herbie and George Marquardt; one sister, Ruth Piipke; one son-in-law, Arlen Loose; and one grandson-in-law, Steven Walters.
