Delores Larson, of the Hagen/Big Bend area, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Home Front First in Montevideo, MN at the age of 84. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, 2010 at Big Bend Lutheran Church at 1:30 PM. Rev. Jay Grave will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Delores Adeline (Swennes) Larson was born February 12, 1926 at Madison, MN the daughter of Arne and Cora (Myhre) Swennes. She moved with her family to a farm south of Clarkfield and she graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1944 and the MN School of Business in Minneapolis in 1945. She worked for Chippewa County Family Services until 1948. Delores was united in marriage with Juleen Larson on June 20, 1947 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Delores worked as a bookkeeper in the family business, Larson Gravel Co., Inc. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, golfing, and listening to the MN Twins. The family recalls her homemade doughnuts and apple pie were a family favorite. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her hobbies of crocheting and quilting were shared with them as she made many baby blankets, afghans and quilts as well as for other relatives and friends. She is survived by three children: Teryl (David) Ahlquist of Spicer, MN, Allen (Rita) Larson of Hagen, MN, and Jean (Gary) Anderson of Mandan, ND; nine grandchildren: Dana (Matt) Schow, Kirk Larson, Shannon (Doyle) Slagter, Nathan (Amanda) Larson, Blair Larson, Reece (Aaron) Sunram, Damon (Laura) Anderson, Emily (Jason) Bendel, and Nicholas (Kayleen) Erickson; fourteen great-grandchildren: Taylor, Devan, Allison, Elijah, Noah, Makenzie, Rayah, Isaiah, McKennan, Nolan, Beau, Cylas, Mia, and Jacobi; two sisters-in-law: Elaine Bergo and June (Bernie) Knutson; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Juleen June 28, 2002; two sisters: Lillian Kopitzke and Bernice Hoff; and one brother, Robert Swennes.
