Delores Marjorie (Kurtzbein) Milbrandt

January 7, 1931 — August 8, 2017

Delores Milbrandt, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo A short prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sparta Township, with Rev. Ron Hobbie officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Delores Marjorie (Kurtzbein) Milbrandt was born on January 7, 1931 in Montevideo to Herman and Lydia (Weckwerth) Kurtzbein.  She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran on January 25, 1931, and was confirmed on July 18, 1943. Delores attended high school at District #7. On February 13, 1949, she was united in marriage to Norman Milbrandt at St. John’s.  They had three children together, and resided in Montevideo their whole lives.  Delores worked at F.W. Woolworth’s, Union Oil, and as a teacher’s aide at Ramsey Elementary School for 22 years.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was also a member of the LWML, Ladies Aid and the church choir.  Delores was also active in the community and volunteered for many years at the Montevideo clinic and hospital.

Delores loved to tend her flower and vegetable gardens.  She also loved to bake goodies for her husband and children, and for many years she was known for the beautiful wedding cakes, birthday cakes, graduation cakes, and other special occasion cakes which she would bake and decorate. She loved to watch the many species of birds that frequented their bird feeders, and also enjoyed the deer that would visit in the winter.

Delores is survived by her husband, Norman, and their children: Pamela (Harold) Wilkinson of Princeton, Michael of Montevideo, and James (Carol) of Huron, SD.; brothers, Duaine (Mary Lou) Kurtzbein of Montevideo, Denneth (Pat) Kurtzbein of Montevideo, sister-in-law, Carol Kurtzbein; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Kurtzbein.
