Delores Olson, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, September 3, 2000 at the Avera St. Lukes Hospital in Aberdeen, SD at the age of 69.
Memorial services were conducted on Thursday, September 7, 2000 at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Delores Jean (Welty) Olson was born near Huron, SD on March 8, 1931 to Bert and Leoma (Verhelst) Welty. She lived in the Huron area before moving to the Marietta, MN area, where she attended school. The family moved to the Montevideo area and she attended Montevideo High School. She was united in marriage to John Olson on August 20, 1949 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived in the Montevideo area where they owned and operated J. and Dee’s and where she managed The Tap and worked at Lottie’s Café. In the early 1960's they moved to a farm near Dawson, moving back to Montevideo in the mid 1980's. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed cooking, gardening and interacting with people.
She is survived by her husband, John; one daughter, Anita Anderson and her husband Hollis of Aberdeen, SD; two grandchildren: Stacy Anderson - Baadte and her husband Tim of Aberdeen, SD and Dawn Anderson of Ft. Dodge, IA; two great-grandchildren: Andrew and Joshua Anderson of Aberdeen, SD; her mother, Leoma Welty of Sioux Falls, SD; and one sister, Marie Shaw and her husband Bill of Sioux Falls, SD.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bert Welty and one sister, Margaret Welty.
