Dena Nokleby, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 103. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo with Rev. Tim Wheatley officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to the services at the church. Dena Berthina (Oddan) Nokleby was born on July 6, 1908 in Big bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Ole and Emma (Mikkelson) Oddan. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson, attended rural schools and graduated from Milan High School. On February 28, 1936 she was united in marriage to Ernest Nokleby at the Watson Lutheran Church Parsonage. They lived and farmed in Mandt Township until moving into Montevideo in 1951. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past eight years. She was a long-time member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and enjoyed going fishing. She is survived by her three children: Dorothy (and Harvey) Thurston of Alexandria, MN; Maurice (and Carolyn) Nokleby of Alexandria, MN and Joan (and Roger) Johnson of Lake Wales, FL; three grandchildren' three great grandchildren., as well as by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest in 1980, four brothers and three sisters.
