Denise (Dennes) Kostad passed into eternal rest Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Mount Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Dennes Joann (Frengen) Kostad was born December 25th, 1931 to Myhra and Sigvart Frengen in Montevideo, MN. She was united in marriage with Loren Kostad of Dawson, MN on June 9, 1956 and they made their home in Willmar, MN and later in West St. Paul, MN.
Denise was an accomplished soloist who contributed her gift of voice to weddings, funerals and other church celebrations. She and her family were also very active in the community sharing their music and message of God's love for senior citizens, homeless shelters and care centers. Denise loved many kinds of music, laughter, writing poetry, her loving husband and family, and was passionate in her faith in God and her gift of singing. One of her greatest joys was recording an album of gospel music with the Calvary Lutheran Church Choir in Willmar in 1973.
She is survived by her children: Kristopher Kostad, Gail Kostad and Ellen Empson (Robb); grandchildren: Melissa Smith and Delilah Kostad; one great-grandson in the Twin Cities area; and dear lifelong friend, Carol Kurtzbein of Montevideo. .
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Loren.
