Dennis Christenson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in Montevideo at the age of 66. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Mary Hovland officiating. Interment will be in the Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Dennis Marvin "Smiley" Christenson was born on January 15, 1943 in Montevideo, MN to Alfred and Hilda (Johnson) Christenson. He was baptized on February 13, 1994 at Wang Lutheran Church. He served in the Minnesota National Guard for six years. On October 21, 1963 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Fredrickson in Montevideo. He worked at the Montevideo Public Schools for nearly 30 years as a custodian and bus driver. He was a member of Wang Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was always ready to offer his help to those needing it. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; five children: Michelle (and Ron) Lancaster of Clara City, MN and Heidi Christenson; Becci Christenson (and special friend Matt), Denise (and Brent) Wold and Sheila Christenson, all of Montevideo; seven grandchildren: Cody, Levi, Laken and Colton Berends; Aden and Calli Wold and Samuel Craig; two brothers: Clifford (and Alice) Christenson of Wausau, WI and Verdi Christenson of Montevideo; a sister, Audrey Angrimson of Montevideo as well as by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; and five brothers: Harris, Alfred, Albie, Juleen "Kelly" and Verdie Christenson.
