Dennis Kessler, of Granite Falls, passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 84.

Celebration of life services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Kilowatt Community Center in Granite Falls with a prayer service starting at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to The Parkinsons Foundation, Granite Falls Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Dennis Louis Kessler was born May 25, 1939 in Sanborn, MN to Martin and Marie (Weber) Kessler, the youngest of identical twin boys.  He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn.  Dennis attended and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1957. Following high school he started his career of working at grain elevators.  He was united in marriage to Rita Blum on August 27, 1960 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lamberton and to this union three children were born.  They made their home in various cities including: Winnebago, Louisburg, Dawson and Granite Falls, where Dennis would work and manage the local grain elevators.

Dennis enjoyed watching sporting events of all kinds, especially his favorite Minnesota sports teams.  He was always sure to travel to his children’s and grandchildren’s school activities, even receiving the school spirit award for his dedicated commitment.  Dennis was also a frequent walker at the Kilowatt Community Center where he made many friendships.  Most of all, his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his life and made any effort possible to spend time with them.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita; children, Tamara (Tim) Boraas of St. Paul, MN, Jody (Mike) Kessler-Gross of Willmar, MN and Scott (Shelly) Kessler of Watertown, SD; grandchildren, Drew (Kailey) and Bailey (Cody Benson) Boraas, Kylie (Tyler Nelson), Kaden (fiancée, Teresa Karst), Kirah, Keegan and Keziah Kessler-Gross; grand puppies, Cooper and Jasper; great-grandchildren, Nora and Hallie Boraas and twins on the way in July; brother, Warren (Jan) Kessler; sister-in-law, DeLores Kessler; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Donald; brother, Vernon; sisters, Lulu and Dorice; and grand puppies, Pugsley, Pooh and Taz.
