Dennis “Sam” LeRoy Moe was born in Madison, MN to Charles and Myrtle Moe on January 18, 1957. He was the youngest of Charlie and Myrtle’s six children.

Dennis graduated from Dawson Boyd High School in 1975. Dennis and Linda were high school sweethearts and were married at Grace Lutheran Church on December 20, 1975, and to this union they had two children; Angela and Shelley.

Dennis and Linda moved to a farm west of Dawson, after they were married. They farmed and raised pigs for a year. After a disappointing harvest, the couple moved to Maple Plain where Dennis found a job with Buesing Bros. in Long Lake. Dennis then transitioned to a job at Tri-State Drilling in Hamel and also started working part-time for the Star Tribune delivering the Sunday paper. After a few years, Dennis started a full-time position at the Star Tribune as a mechanic. Because of his drive and love for farming, he moved his family to a farm outside of Maple Plain.

In 1983, Dennis and Linda purchased the family farm west of Dawson. Dennis farmed the land in Dawson and in Maple Plain, while still holding his full-time job at the Star Tribune; however; his passion was still committed to farming. In 1990, he and Linda and daughter, Angela moved to the family farm in Dawson.

In 1996, Dennis was in a car accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury. After a very long and intense recovery, Dennis was no longer able to farm. But farming never left his heart, as he was always on top of everything “farming.” His siblings and friends will tell you that Dennis would call them randomly and ask, “who bought that quarter,” or “what did we ever do with Dad’s “B John Deere.”

Dennis passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 due to complications with pneumonia and oxygen levels. He was reunited in Heaven with his parents, daughter Shelley, brother Larry and many other friends and loved ones. We are sure Shelley was waiting at the gate saying, “C’mon dad….”

Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda and daughter, Angela, brother, Glen Moe, brother, Dewey (Patricia) Moe, sister, Ann (David) Hoseck, sister-in-law, Marge Moe of California, Craig (Deb) Moe of Iowa, mother-in-law, Velva Knutson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Myrtle Moe. His youngest daughter, Shelley Moe. His father-in-law, James Knutson. His great niece Victoria Moe. His brother, Larry Moe, and his sister-in-law, Donna Moe.
