Dennis "Denny" Wanke, of Montevideo, died at his home Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the age of 54. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Pastor Rob Kemppainen will officiate and interment will be at Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening at the Anderson Funeral Home from 5-7:00 PM. Dennis James Wanke was born May 8, 1955 at Milan, MN the son of Thomas and Arlene (Larson) Wanke. He attended school in Milan and graduated from high school in 1973. He was united in marriage with Rhonda McTighe September 18, 1976 at Appleton, MN. They made their home in Montevideo where he worked at Moduline, Regal and Friendship Homes. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, collecting old things, and watching UFC fighting. Denny went skydiving in Hutchinson, MN and rode a bull in Gary, SD. He also enjoyed fishing minnows with the grandsons, catching big chubs and shiners. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; three children: Justun and Jason of Montevideo, MN and Tonya and her husband Shawn Streed of New London, MN; four grandchildren: Alex and Tyler Olson and Morgan and McKenzie Streed; his father, Tom, Sr. and his wife Phyllis of Appleton, MN; his mother, Arlene Wanke of St. Cloud, MN; two brothers: Tom, Jr. and his wife Bev of Montevideo, MN and Greg Wanke of St. Cloud, MN; three sisters: Liza Larson of Excelsior, MN, Linda Lovold and her husband Craig of Shakopee, MN, and Sandy Norberg and her husband Jay of Pipestone, MN; many nieces and nephews; and his father-in-law, Wayne Hastings of Appleton, MN. Preceding him in death were his grandparents; a son, Justin Wayne Wanke in 1977; an uncle, Jim Wanke; and his mother-in-law, Francis Hastings.
