Dick Rodeberg, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 78. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Dick Rodeberg was born on July 16, 1932 in Montevideo to Harry and Mabel (Wig) Rodeberg. He was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1950. On May 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Carole Johnson at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in Montevideo, where they have been members since. After serving two years on active duty during the Korean Conflict, Dick returned to Montevideo and worked at the Montevideo American as a printer and linotype operator for thirteen years. He bought out Fred's Print Shop and Cliff Brown Printing, doing business as Custom Printing until retiring in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion, served on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the church council and taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. After retirement he found a love for woodworking. He enjoyed being out in his woodshop making a variety of things for family and friends. He also took up a new hobby of "shootin pool" with his buddies at the Montevideo Community center. Along with Carole, he especially enjoyed the many family get-togethers and visits from his grandchildren always made his day. He is survived by his wife, Carole; two sons: Gary (and Brenda) Rodeberg of Watson and David (Denise) Rodeberg of Montevideo; nine grandchildren: Brian Rodeberg, Devin Rodeberg, Melissa (and Luke) Straw, Garret Rodeberg, Courtney Sandven and special friend Vince Lam, Whitney Sandven, Leah Rodeberg, Katlynn Rodeberg and special friend Ethan Johnson and Skylar (Saue) Rodeberg, seven great grandchildren: Makaela, Kaili, Bryce, Cora, Alikka, Alexis and Baylee; a brother, Dean Rodeberg of Montevideo, a sister-in law, Harriet Rodeberg of Montevideo, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-mother, Inez; a brother, Robert Rodeberg; and by a sister at birth.
