Dolores Lia, of Appleton and formerly of Milan, MN, died Friday, November 27, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 1:30 PM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Pastor Rob Kemppainen will officiate and interment will be at Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Dolores Jessie (Haff) Lia was born March 5, 1924 near Watson, MN the daughter of Tony and Minnie (Rust) Haff. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Delores attended school in rural Dist. 19, Watson School, and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1942. She worked at Rexall Drug for four years. Dolores was united in marriage with Palmer Lia September 21, 1946 at the Methodist Parsonage in Montevideo. They made their home on the Lia home farm and had one son. They moved into Milan in 1978 and she sold Avon, worked at Pioneer Public Television, and drove school van for special education students. She enjoyed knitting, playing the piano and organ, reading, and doing word puzzles. Dolores also liked to drive around the lake and watch the wildlife. She is survived by her husband, Palmer of Appleton, MN; daughter-in-law, Kim Molden of Milan, MN; three grandchildren: Chris (Jessie) Lia of Alberta, MN, Cheryl (Ryan) Erp of Milan, MN, and Crystal (special friend Craig Steffen) Lia of Raymond, MN; four great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Brianna, and Braden Lia, and Mason Erp; brother-in-law, Milo (Lois) Lia of Victoria, MN; sisters-in-law: Arlys Olson of Montevideo, MN and Violet Haff of Montevideo, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Mark; and a brother, Stanley Haff.
