Bacigalupo, Don C., 80, of Montevideo, MN died peacefully on Tuesday, February 7th 2023. He was born on March 22nd, 1942, to Thomas and Gertrude Bacigalupo in St. Paul, MN. Anyone who knew Don, understood that he acted out of a deep well of compassion. It was his care and concern for others that led him into a 38-year career as a social worker. Don was devoted to his community as an active member of AA, and he celebrated 36 years of sobriety. He also cared about protecting the environment. In 1976 he sued Reserve Mining Company because of the asbestos pollution in Lake Superior. The suit was for a total of $27 to cover the costs of hauling clean drinking water. While he knew his suit would be small as a bee sting, he believed that “if we got enough bee-stings together, it will hurt.” While he was serious about issues, he knew how to make light of life and his own flaws. As a founder of the ‘Un-talent Show’ Don taught multiple generations how to laugh at ourselves. All of these qualities made Don a force for good. He will be missed by his wife, Sandra E. (Forsberg) Bacigalupo, her children and grandchildren, his former wife Beverly Berntson and their children, Chris (Patrice Bradley), Nic (Patty), Marty (Nellie), and Amy (Paul Wymar) Bacigalupo his seven grandchildren (Lynsey, Gino, Aurora, Hunter, Bella, Lydia, Louis) and his brothers, Tom Bacig and David Bacig. A celebration of life will be held for Don on Friday, March 24th from 4 – 7 pm at the Community Center in Montevideo, MN.
