Donald Francis Adams

Donald Adams, of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 6, 1999 at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 80.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 9, 1999 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo with Rev. Jerry Paulson officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Josephs Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday at St. Josephs Catholic Church from 5 - 7:30 PM and with prayers said at 7:00 PM.

Donald Francis Adams was born May 24, 1919 at Montevideo, MN the son of Charles and Bernice (Pike) Adams.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Josephs Catholic Church, graduated from Montevideo High School in 1938, and  attended the University of Minnesota.  Don served in the US Army in the South Pacific from 1941-1945.  He was united in marriage with Silda Weckwerth May 27, 1947.  He opened Adams Motor Co. in 1947 and was active in the business for the past 52 years.  Don was a member of the Kiwanis, Lions, KC’s, VFW, DAV, life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the American Legion where he was the first member from Montevideo to receive a 50 year pin.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed them with his family and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed traveling and Canadian fishing trips.

He is survived by his wife, Silda; three children: Marcia Cotter and her husband Stephen of Montevideo, MN, Allan Adams and his wife Linda of Montevideo, MN, and William “Bill” Adams and his wife Bonnie of Burnsville, MN; eleven grandchildren: Martha, Patrick, and Stacia Beth Cotter, Emily Adams and husband Matt Anderson, Heidi, Warren, and Elizabeth Adams, and Mark, Timothy, Rebekah, and Luke Adams; one great-grandson, Nicholas Anderson; one brother, Paul Adams of Montevideo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Catherine Conrad.
