Donald Boe, of Dawson, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Lakeview Ranch in Dassel, MN at the age of 80.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Pastor John Guthridge will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church on Saturday.
Donald Duane Boe was born May 14, 1933 in Cerro Gordo Township of Lac qu Parle County, MN the son of Richard and Mae (Thompson) Boe. He was baptized August 4, 1935 at Riverside Lutheran Church and confirmed March 30, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson. Don served in the US Army. After returning home he farmed and did construction work with his father and was co-owner of Boe Bros. Phillips 66 Station with his brother Marvin. He was united in marriage with Mary Ann Pearson on August 25, 1962 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. To this union Debra and Kimberly were born. He was employed for 37 years as the transportation supervisor and a bus driver for the Dawson - Boyd School System. He continued to sub for several years after retiring. Donald followed in his father-in-laws footsteps by joining the Dawson Fire Dept. and he put in 30 years of service. He valued his retirement years enjoying the great outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters: Debra Boe of Dawson and Kimberly (Mike) Pease of Rochester; a grandson, Andrew Pease of Rochester; brothers: Lloyd (Ginny) Boe of St. Louis Park, Marvin (Donna) Boe of Bemidji; Curtis Boe of Charlotte, NC; a sister Marcella Beck of New Hope; sister-in-law, Dora Boe of Red Wing; brothers-in-law: William (Drexel) Pearson of Dallas, TX and Oscar Pearson of Dawson; and nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Mary on May 5, 2000; parents-in-law, William and Lorraine Pearson; brother, Robert Boe; brothers-in-law: Lewis Beck and Neil Sorenson; sister-in-law, Dianna Sorenson; and a nephew, Corey Beck.
