Donald Kurtzbein, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, November 13, 1996 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 69.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 16, 1996 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Norman Aronson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for 1 hour prior to the services.
Donald Herman Kurtzbein was born on April 2, 1927 in Sparta Township of Chippewa County, MN to Herman and Lydia (Weckwerth) Kurtzbein. He was baptized on April 17, 1927 and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at St. Johns Lutheran Church of Sparta Township. He attended rural schools and served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Carol Dahl on July 11, 1970 at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. They lived in Fridley, MN before moving back to Montevideo in 1974. He was the service manager at Bittner-Ward Motors until his retirement. He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed wood - working, gardening, car racing , tractor pulls and threshing bees.
Donald is survived by his wife, Carol; three children: Jennifer Kurtzbein of Plymouth, MN, Steve Kurtzbein and his wife Chris of Willmar, MN, and Lynette Struck and her husband Gene of Mankato, MN; 4 grandchildren: Nathan Kurtzbein, Paul Struck, Brian Struck, and Courtney Kurtzbein; 1 great-grandson, Eric Kurtzbein; one sister, Delores Milbrandt and her husband Norman of Montevideo; two brothers: Duaine Kurtzbein and his wife Mary Lou and Denneth Kurtzbein and his wife Pat of Montevideo; as well as by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lydia.
