Donald Lyle Mogard

Donald Mogard passed away peacefully Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Regions Hospital at the age of 65.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Rev. Kendall Stelter officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service.

Donald Lyle Mogard, son of Leonard and Velma (Shaw) Mogard, was born August 28, 1957 in Dawson, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Don’s love of people began at a very young age. He enjoyed tennis, swimming, and just being with friends in town throughout his youth. Don graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School in 1975 and joined the National Guard.

Don married Loretta Liebl on April 11, 1981 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Don started his career as the manager of Godfather’s Pizza in Hutchinson, MN and worked numerous jobs through his life including: Midway Airlines, Champion Airlines, Radio Personality in Slayton MN, Co-Owner of Mogie’s restaurant in Dawson, Hotel Management, Sales, and as part of a Locator Team at USIC. Don’s work ethic set a great example for his co-workers throughout his career.

Don enjoyed golf, music, and conversing with friends, neighbors and family. His nieces, nephews and siblings were a gift to him, as he was to them. One of Don’s favorite things was coming home to the cats every day after work, they were always ready for a little rumble.

Don is survived by his wife Loretta, 8 siblings; Marcela (Pete) Peterson, Cliff (Jeanne) Mogard, Nancy Haukos, Dennis Mogard, Cheryl (Gene) Putzier, Glenice (Wally) Augeson, Ron (Cindy) Mogard, Sandy Mogard (Kenny Perkins) and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother Virgil, brother Gordy; nephews Joey Perkins, Eric Putzier, Troy Mogard and Ricky Mogard.
