Donna died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 70. Funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 21, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating; Florence Gebur read the poem "Gone From My Sight" by Henry Van Dyke, Donna Zinter read a tribute titled "She Is Quite the Lady", written by Leila of Houston, TX, Richard Heggestad read the "Serenity Prayer" and Sheila Ricker read Psalm 23; organist, Chris Lehne accompanied the singing of "Amazing Grace", "Beyond the Sunset", "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art." Jaime Tuff, Jarod Tuff, Tanner Goth, Scott Bothun and Robert Moreno were casketbearers and burial was in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Donna Rae (Tuff) Quale was born on May 26, 1939 at Sisseton, SD, the daughter of George and Gena (Nebben) Hegna. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peever, SD. Donna grew up on the farm with her "trick" horse, Flossy and attended Agency #4 Country School, graduating from Peever High School in 1957. She worked at the Roberts County Bank upon graduation and married Jim Tuff of Peever. Donna later worked at the Sisseton High School as secretary to the principal for several years. In 1967, Donna moved with her family to Dawson, where she worked at Kloss' Hardware Store and Red Owl. She then worked for 33 years with the Felco-Land-o-Lakes Feed Plant at Dawson, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. Following retirement, Donna wet to work for Facing New Horizons, a job that brought her much pleasure. Donna's greatest treasures in life were her family and many dear, loyal friends. Her quick wit and sense of humor were the cornerstones of who she was, her passion for life defined her. She had many interests: loving birds, embroidery, growing flowers, decorating, playing cards (especially with those grandchildren), and laughing at the Golden Girls. She is survived by her children: James Allen (Val) Tuff of Dawson, Becky Lynn Bothun of Dawson, and Scott Leander (Amber) Foth of Onida, SD; 8 grandchildren: Jaime (Brittney James) Tuff of Kansas City, MO, Jarod Tuff of Dawson, Raeann Tuff of Dawson, Eric (Melissa) Bothun of Volga, SD, Scott (Tasha) Bothun of Pierre, SD, Emily (Robert) Moreno of Dawson, Tanner Foth of Sioux Falls, SD, and Erin Foth of Onida, SD; 4 great-grandchildren: Hayley and Brooklyn Bothun of Volga, SD, and Nick and Annika Bothun of Pierre, SD; and numerous close cousins and best friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Glenn Phillips.
