Donna Rasmussen, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at her home in Homefront in Montevideo at the age of 79. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Donna LaVay (Folkestad) Rasmussen was born on September 6, 1929 in New York Mills, MN to John and Lillian (Roseau) Folkestad. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1947. On June 5, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harold "Ted" Rasmussen in Montevideo. She lived in the Montevideo area and worked as a teacher's assistant for 38 years in the Montevideo school system. She was currently making her home at Homefront in Montevideo. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and their women's groups and belonged to a sewing and homemakers club. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, bird watching, traveling and spending summers at the trailer on Lobster Lake near Alexandria, MN. She is survived by five children: Lorrie Spray and her husband Dale of Milan, MN, Dale Rasmussen and his wife Mary and Brad Rasmussen and his wife Lorraine, both of Montevideo, Jill Sparby and her husband Kenneth of Hutchinson, MN and Holly Fox and her husband Tom of Champlin, MN; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Fechter of Salt Lake City, UT as well as by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted in 1997; and by two brothers: Ray and Gordon Folkestad.
