Donna Trygstad, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 80. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson, MN with Rev. Keith Long officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Donna Lou (Wilson) Trygstad was born on June 2, 1932 in Montevideo, MN to Walter and Clara (Swang) Wilson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church, grew up on a farm in Stony Run Township and attended rural school in District #14. She began 6th grade in Clarkfield and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1950. In addition to her schooling in grades 6th - 8th, she attended Lutheran Parochial School and received her 8th grade diploma. In the fall of 1950 she attended Mankato State Teachers College before returning to Montevideo and working for Archer-Daniels-Midland Co for seventeen years. For a short time she worked for Montevideo Public Schools in food service. In 1975 she began working as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Brookside Manor, retiring seventeen years later in 1992. On September 18, 1959 she was united in marriage to Philip A. Lund at Hazel Run, MN and to this union was born a son, Mark. Following Philip’s death in 1980, she was united in marriage to Dean Trygstad on June 27, 1987. She was a member of Watson Lutheran Church, where she was active in its women’s groups, served on the church council, was a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir for many years. She enjoyed cooking, music and piano playing, singing, gardening, walking, traveling and working on crafts.
She is survived by a son Mark (and Barb) Lund of Montevideo; a step-son, Jayme (and Rebecca) Trygstad of Volga, SD; three grandchildren: Melissa Beatty, Ryan (and Kayla) Beatty and Chentel Lund; two great grandchildren: Gracelyn and Jackson; two step grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Wilson Jr. of Hazel Run, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Philip Lund in 1980 and Dean Trygstad in 2007, a sister-in-law, Trudy Wilson and a nephew, Gregg Wilson.
