Doreen Bornus passed away peacefully May 27, 2015 at Scandia Shores in Shorview, MN after a struggle with cancer at the age of 62.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, rural Montevideo, MN. Pastor Willie Rosin will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Doreen Faye Bornus was born April 11, 1953 in Montevideo, MN the daughter of Clarence and Evangeline (Lund) Bornus. She was baptized at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter in rural Montevideo, MN on April 28 1953 and confirmed at Acension Lutheran Church in Emerado, ND April 3, 1966. Doreen graduated from Columbia Heights High School in 1972. Owing to her father’s military career, she spent her early years on various Air Force Bases including Rapid City, SD, Amarillo, TX, Limestone, ME, and Grand Forks, ND. She also lived in New Brighton, MN, Fridley, MN, Montevideo, MN, Fargo, ND, Kansas City, MO, Red Lodge, MT, Bearcreek, MT and Shoreview, MN.
Doreen was an artist who loved to draw, paint and create collage artwork. She also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, movies, old-time TV shows, bowling, bingo, and collecting cowboy hats. She was a big fan of Elvis, Abraham Lincoln, Laurel and Hardy, Elton John, the British royal family, and various country-western artists.
She is survived by her siblings: Michael (Paula) of Belfry, MT, Susan (George) of Coon Rapids, MN, Steven (Sonja) of Shoreview, MN, and David (Kirsten) of Shoreview, MN; as well as by nieces: Kristin, Erinn (Tim), Kathryn, Rebecca (James), Leah, Sarah, and Kristine (Robert); grand-nephews: Noah, Caleb, and Gabriel; and grand-nieces: Isabella and Anna.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
