Doris Adeline (Gunvalson) Burns

March 5, 1922 — September 13, 1998

Doris Burns, 76, of Dawson, died September 13, 1998 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 17, 1998 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, MN.  Rev. Paul Christopher and Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, MN at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday.

Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.

Doris Adeline (Gunvalson) Burns was born March 5, 1922 at Cyrus, MN the daughter of Severre and Anna (Mickelson) Gunvalson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Cyrus Lutheran Church.  Doris was united in marriage with Willard Burns April 4, 1938 at Hancock, MN.  She lived in the Hancock area before moving to Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson May 17, 1977.  Doris enjoyed the cat "Maude" at the nursing home, Gospel music, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She also loved going to church, church programs, singing, playing bingo, and she also loved strawberry sundaes, pumpkin pie, and family gatherings.

She is survived by four children: Darrell (Toni) Burns of Quamado, TX, Diane (Dennis) Kruger of Clarkfield, MN, Pat (Kirt) Luebke of Dawson, MN, and Bill (Barb) Burns of Hanley Falls, MN; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Ernest (Pearle) Gunvalson of Bagley, MN, Harris Gunvalson of Brainerd, MN, and Curtiss (Genevieve) Gunvalson of Cyrus, MN.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Willard Burns in 1972; seven children: Gerald Burns, Christine Bergquist, and five in infancy; and four brothers: Ervin, Victor, Joseph, and Vernon.
