Doris A. (Sather) Collins

July 22, 1928 — April 1, 1999

Doris A. (Sather) Collins was born on July 22, 1928 in Cashel Township of Swift Co., MN to Mervin and Pauline (Antolick) Sather.  She grew up in the Benson, MN area and graduated from Benson High School.  On April 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Collins at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock, MN.  Together they raised seven children in a spirited household that Doris held together with great care, ingenuity, humor and love.  Doris and her family lived in various communities throughout southwestern Minnesota, with the majority of those years in Cottonwood and Dawson.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved to play golf, cards, paint in oils, and in her earlier years, worked magic with a sewing machine.  A great deal of her time was spent Christmas shopping.  There was nothing she cherished more than having her whole brood under one roof - especially at Christmas.  Her greatest joy was being with family and good friends.
Doris died on Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN, at the age of 70.
She is survived by her husband - Tom;  by her seven children - Laurie (and Rick) Etrheim of Coon Rapids, MN; Nancy Collins of New York City, NY; Kevin (and Carol) Collins of St. Paul, MN; Sandy (and Ken) Stone of Minneapolis, MN; Debbie (and Jeff) Moe, Kurt (and Karen) Collins, and Kim Collins (and special friend - Staci), all of Dawson; seven grandchildren - Holly (fiance Tim) and Tracey Etrheim; Lydia and Norah Stone; Kelsey and Kyler Collins and Willa Moe; by four sisters - Marian (and Lloyd) Olson of Montevideo; Verona (and Ted) Skare of Burnsville, MN; Marge (and Jerry) Commerford of Buffalo, MN; and Dianne (and Burt) Iverson of Austin, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
