Doris Gruenenwald

Doris Gruenenwald died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 98.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Johnson Memorial Care Center or Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.

Doris Marie (Wittnebel) Gruenenwald was born July 15, 1924, on a farm near Bellingham to Richard and Hattie (Boehnke) Wittnebel. She was baptized August 10, 1924, and confirmed July 17, 1938, at Arena Lutheran Church near Madison.  On December 30, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Roland Gruenenwald at Arena Lutheran Church.  To this union three children were born: Barbara Jean, Stanley, and Marc.  Doris and Roland farmed south of Dawson until they retired.

She is survived by her children: Barbara Jean, Stanley (Barbara May) and Marc (Kathy); grandchildren: Chris, Andy, Dan (Sarah), Matthew, Ben (Kristin), Ryan (Alicia), and Jamie; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Chloe, Morgan, Jake, Addison and Justin; Wittnebel and Gruenenwald cousins; and nieces and nephews; extended family, Julie and Bruce Arvold.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Roland and other family members.

To all the relatives and friends near and far, Doris would say thank you for all the pictures, Christmas newsletters and phone calls she received over the years.
