Doris Hagenstad, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 87. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Watson. Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM Doris Verdel (Norby) Hagenstad was born on August 5, 1920 near Big Bend, MN to Arthur and Inga (Canton) Norby. She was baptized January 1, 1921 at Big Bend Lutheran Church and confirmed April 1, 1934 at Zion Lutheran Church, attended rural schools and grew up in the Watson area. On December 30, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Pray and to this union three children: Ron, Larry and Kim were born. The marriage ended in 1967 and Doris moved to Minneapolis and began working for Control Data Corp. In 1983 she retired and moved back to Montevideo. On September 17, 1983 she was united in marriage to Glenn Hagenstad. Doris was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and active in its women's groups. She loved music and especially liked singing, yodeling and dancing. Over the years she played the guitar, piano, accordion and violin. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and painting with oils. Doris Verdel Hagenstad had a meaningful life. She is survived by her three children: Ronald (and Sue) Pray of Edina, MN, Larry (and Kay) Pray of Minnetrista, MN and Kimberly Pray and her partner Ron Wedow of Elizabeth, CO; five grandchildren: Tim (and Kimm) Pray, Penny (and John) Goodyear, Wendy (and Scott) Larson, Jeffrey (and Glenda) Pray and Nancy Pray and her fiance Tim Howard; ten great-grandchildren: Kellin, Trenton, Mike, Nicholas, Nichole, Samantha, Nolan, Chelsea, Katherine and Amanda; two brothers: Wally (and Joyce) Norby of Bellingham, MN and Dale (and Karen) Norby of New Jersey; three sisters: Grace Johnson of Appleton, MN, Lorraine Fundingsland of New London, MN and Mary Lou Beyer of Benson, MN; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn in 1997; and by three brothers: Harlan, Roland and Dennis Norby.
