Doris Struxness, formerly of Milan, died at the Appleton Hospital on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 7 , 2005 at 1:00 PM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Thomas Opoien officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and with the family from 4 - 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Doris Albertina (Sweno) Struxness was born on March 15, 1916 in Milan, MN to Albert and Dorthea (Johnson) Sweno. She was baptized at Kviteseid Lutheran Church and confirmed on Oct. 5, 1930,also at Kviteseid Lutheran. She graduated from Milan High School in 1935 and was a member of the championship girl’s basketball team. On October 17, 1942 she was united in marriage to Harold Struxness at Ft. Riley, Kansas. She lived her entire lifetime in the Milan area and has been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home for the past 2 years. She was a lifelong member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and was active in its ladies aid. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, camping, bowling, playing cards, was a charter member of the Jolly Jabbers and was extremely devoted to her family.
She is survived by 2 sons: Douglas Struxness and his wife Marty of Bloomington, MN and Gerald Struxness and his wife Leone of Raymond, MN; 4 Grandchildren: Jenny Kunze and her husband Jason; Eric Struxness; David Struxness and his wife Megan and Kevin Struxness; 3 great grandchildren: Alexis and Reed Kunze and Dalton Struxness; a sister, Dorothy Arndt of Fargo, ND; a sister-in-law, Clarice Sweno of Appleton, MN as well as by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold in 1979; a brother, Raymond Sweno and by a sister, Bernice Wagner.
