Dorothy Pearl (Borgendale) Hendrickson

Montevideo

Dorothy Hendrickson, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, January 2, 2000 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 7, 2000 at 1: 30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Michael Briggs officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 8 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, and for one hour prior to services at the church.

Dorothy Pearl (Borgendale) Hendrickson was born on December 30, 1916 in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle County, MN to Charles and Anna (Anderson) Borgendale.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, attended rural schools and graduated from Madison High School.  She attended beauticians school in Sioux Falls, SD for a year and worked for Swifts in Montevideo for a number of years before being united in marriage to Andrew Hendrickson on July 9, 1944 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter.  They farmed for several years in Sparta Township before moving into Montevideo in 1963.  She worked as a nurse’s aid at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital for over 25 years before retiring in the early 1980's.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and circle and was at one time named Trinity Mother of the year.  She was a member of the hospital auxiliary, the Dorothy Club and enjoyed playing cards, knitting, reading, quilting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew; five children: Daryl Hendrickson and his wife Judi of Melrose, MN, Nancy Pedersen and her husband Gary of Minneapolis, MN, Ed Hendrickson and his wife Karen of Panama City Beach, FL, Ann Olson and her husband Doug of Oakdale, MN, and Karen Lettau and her husband Mike of Montevideo, MN; nine grandchildren: Amy Wagner and her husband Curt, Leah Hendrickson, Erika Pedersen, Benjamin Pedersen, Ryan Hendrickson, Michelle Jansen and her husband Chris, Heidi Olson, Jason Lettau and Shaun Lettau; three sisters: Phyllis Saltee and her husband Clarence of Canby, MN, Gladys Boxrud of Willmar, MN and Lillian Simpson of Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers-in-law: Ted Kleinsasser of Alcoa, TN and Les “Stub” Danielson of Dawson, MN; two sisters-in-law: Lorraine Borgendale of Montevideo, MN and Margaret Milbrath of Okabena, MN; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Dawn Hendrickson; and two sisters: Alice Danielson and Mabel Kleinsasser; and three brothers: Charles, Arden and Harold Borgendale.
