Dorothy Saterbak, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. The family will be present from 6 - 8 PM.
Dorothy Marcella (Knutsen) Saterbak was born on June 14, 1922 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Oscar and Emelia (Eliason) Knutsen. She was baptized at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in Mandt Township and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Dorothy attended Montevideo Public Schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1940. On June 1, 1947 she was united in marriage to Donald Saterbak at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She worked at Union State Bank, General Adjustment Bureau and for the State of MN Unemployment Division. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Montevideo and had been a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Rebekkahs. She was a longtime member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, a Luther League Leader and a Circle member. Painting, baking and cooking, playing piano and organ, doing crafts and traveling were things she enjoyed. Her time at their Lake Minnewaska cabin and her family were her special delights.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; children: Diane Harding and her husband Brian of Rogers, MN, David Saterbak and his wife Ann of Princeton, MN, and Debra Wahlberg and her husband Greg of Dover, PA; nine grandchildren: Dawn (Steven) Bucks, Chad and Jason Harding, Michael (Melissa) Saterbak, Eric (Kathy) Saterbak, Matthew Saterbak, Sarah Wahlberg, James (Cheryl) Wahlberg, and Katie (Jeremy) Dillard; 4 and 8/9ths great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Madison and Jonah Bucks and Ava Mae Saterbak.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Lisa Marie Saterbak; two brothers: Art and Orville Knutsen; and three sisters: Pearl Holien, Gladyce Bratmoe and Hazel Knutsen.
