Douglas L. Bosch was born July 15, 1939 in Montevideo, MN to Bernard and Ellen (Lee) Bosch. He was baptized and confirmed at Rosewood Methodist Church. Doug graduated from Benson High School in 1957 and after high school he enlisted in the United States Army and finished his military career in the National Guard. He was united in marriage to Barbara Christenson on December 3, 1960 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo. Together they raised their family in Grace Township. Doug farmed all his life. From tending to his dairy cattle to putting in long days in the tractor out in the fields. After retirement he still helped the boys with their tiling operation running the backhoe. As a member of Rosewood Methodist Church he was a youth leader, usher and was always willing to help out where ever needed. Currently Doug is a member at United Methodist Church Montevideo where he has been an active participant in the church turkey supper as well as he and his family serving morning breakfast after Easter services. In the mid 70’s after selling off his dairy herd, Doug & Barb bought a lake home on Games Lake. Most weekends during the summer were spent there and many new friendships were developed over the years. In the winter Doug would travel to Texas, also meeting many new friends while being able to enjoy the sunshine there rather than the cold Minnesota winters here. Since Barb’s passing in 2009, he enjoyed time spent making fond memories with his very special friend Ruth Ann Ashburn. Doug loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, yearly fishing trips to Canada, snowmobiling, motorcycling and going for long rides on his Polaris Ranger. He had plenty of “Big Boy Toys” over the years. Doug was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed every minute that he could spend with them.
He is survived by his children, Penny (Greg) Hedman of Spicer, MN, Lee (Kim) Bosch of Clara City, MN, Corey (Darcy) Bosch of Benson, MN; grandchildren, Michael (Lindsey) Bosch, Christopher (Meghan) Bosch, Stephen (Tiffany) Pederson, Jake Pederson, and Cathy, Cody and Caitlin Bosch; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Ellie, Hailey and Nolan; very special friend, Ruth Ann Ashburn, her family, Tami (Tom) Freetly, Julie Ashburn, Mitch (Jeanne) Ashburn and their families; and other extended family and friends.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara in 2009; brother, Norman; sister, Joyce; and other extended family.
