Dr. Arnie Jostock passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76, concluding his courageous battle with heart disease and prostate cancer.
Private memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. A video of the service will be available on the funeral home website on Thursday.
A community celebration from our cars, while practicing social distancing, will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Dawson-Boyd Football Field. Dr. Arnold "Arnie" Gervas Jostock was born October 28, 1944 in Red Wing, MN the son of Gervas and Geneva (Tri) Jostock. He grew up in Mazeppa and Lake City and graduated from Wabasha High School. He graduated from the University of Minnesota - College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970. Arnie was united in marriage with Bonnie Nelson, June 18, 1966 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. They lived in St. Paul from 1966 until moving to Preston in 1970, then to Luverne in 1971 and making their home in Dawson in 1972. Arnie worked as a veterinarian until retiring in 2014 after working in the field for more than 40 years. He was always active in the community and was a member of the Dawson Lions, Dawson Chamber, served on the Dawson-Boyd School Board, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and was a hospice volunteer with his dog Rascal. Arnie loved traveling the world with his wife Bonnie. His mornings always started with the daily paper and he enjoyed reading. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, and attending his children's and later grandchildren's activities. Arnie also enjoyed driving his 1935 John Deere Model "D" tractor, having a good visit, and spending time by the shores of Palmer Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; five children: Laura (Brady) Hoag of Maple Grove, Tami (Scott) Fernholz of Sartell, Becki (Dave) Murphy of Elk River, Chris (Jodi) Jostock of Delano, and Jon (Missy Hulzebos) Jostock of Canby; twelve grandchildren: Joshua and Kara Hoag, Jacob, Ryan and Sam Fernholz, Natalie, Anna and Joe Murphy, Grace, Carter, Lydia, and Jordyn Jostock; two brothers: Richard (Jeanine) Jostock of Plainview and Donald (Mary Jo) Jostock of Andover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
