Duane A. Olson, of Pequot Lakes, MN, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at his home at the age of 62.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 15, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Montevideo, with Rev. Gregory Gabriel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Duane Anton Olson was born on September 7, 1937 in Chippewa County, MN to Alvin C. and Ingeborg (Raffelson) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. In 1947 he moved with his family to Swift County and graduated from Benson High School in 1956. He was a member of the MN Army National Guard and served in the US Army, serving in Germany. Following his discharge, he lived in California, working in the electronics industry until his retirement in 1990. Following his retirement, he moved back to Minnesota and settled in Pequot Lakes, MN. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion and the Sons of Norway.
He is survived by five brothers: Delos Olson and his wife Karen of Rochester, MN, Donald Olson and his wife Tricia of Rochester, MN, David Olson and his wife Judy of Shakopee, MN, Kenneth Olson of Pequot Lakes, MN and Byron Olson and his wife Vicki of Benson, MN; one sister, Solveig VanOverbeke and her husband Gordon of Lucan, MN; 6 nieces; 8 nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Carol Olson.
