Duane Charles Anderson was born November 2, 1954 in Dawson, MN to Clarence and Betty (Wagner-Larson) Anderson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison.  Dewey attended and graduated from Dawson-Boyd High School and after high school he worked for Great Plains building pole sheds.  He was united in marriage to Lola Myhre on September 7, 1974 at Faith Lutheran Church and to this union two children were born, Daniel and Chad.  They made their home South of Dawson where Dewey raised livestock for many years.  He also did concrete work in his “spare time” for many people in the area. Dewey ran his own farrow to hog operation from the late 1980’s to early 2000’s and eventually moved on to raising strictly cattle.

Dewey was a giver- he was always willing to help others which kind of became his hobby, along with talking on his cell phone with friends and neighbors and taking care of livestock. He tried hunting, fishing, bowling, and golfing but nothing ever became his passion quite like his family & his livestock.  Dewey was an animal lover- when he was 11 years old, his neighbor co-signed a loan so he could purchase his first pigs. He loved animals and pets in general.

When he wasn’t taking care of his livestock, he loved watching the boys and the grandkids participate in their sports and events. He never missed the boys’ games or matches, and when he attended the grandkids’ events, he always found a way to let them know he was there. When Carter was pitching, he’d yell out “give ‘em the heater”. The grandkids were definitely his pride and joy. When Grandpa Dew either came to spend time with them or at an event, he always brought a treat for them- licorice, cinnamon bears, Hot Tamales, Good & Plenty. He enjoyed making side bets with Carter on which sports team would win- he would always let Carter pick his team first, and let’s just say he “won” lots more candy than Grandpa Dew did. He’d always say “love ya” at the end of his phone calls to the grandkids.

Dewey loved spending time together with family, whether it be a card game, checkers, bean bags or a relaxing day at the lake. He’d say the best foods & desserts at family gatherings were “top shelf”.

Dewey’s laugh was contagious, & he had the best sense of humor and stories. He enjoyed getting teased about his fleet of vehicles. He loved finding a good buy, whether it be an online auction or Craigslist. These good buys left his heart happy & his garage full.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Lola; sons, Daniel Anderson of Albany, MN and Chad (Camille) Anderson of Monticello, MN; grandchildren, Hope, Brynn, Carter and Calli; siblings, Burnie (Roger) Lynne, Linda Poteat, Karen Anderson, Rhonda Nelson, Vickie (Bob) Lozenski, Joyce (Rob) Bryce; and several other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dennis Anderson, and Doug Anderson; sister, Grace Cauwels; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wallace and Esther Myhre.
