Dwain Olson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Rev. Kendall Stelter officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Dwain Kenneth Olson was born on February 1, 1923 in Montevideo, MN to Allen and Rose (Kling) Olson. He attended rural school and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson. On January 8, 1951 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Sather in Minneapolis, MN. They lived on the Olson family farm for a couple of years and on a farm in rural Clarkfield for several years before purchasing the farm in Lisbon Township, where he farmed until retiring in 1984. He was continuing to live on the farm. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson and served on the Boyd Elevator Board for sixteen years. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, camping, fishing, drinking coffee and sharing stories. He is survived by three daughters: Geraldine (Bob) Dieken of Clara City, MN, Pauline (Mike) Sager of Burnsville, MN and Colleen (Al) Marcus of Redwood Falls, MN; six grandchildren: Allan (Emily) Dieken, Cheryl (Mike) Colby, Hunter Sager, and Matthew, Autumn and Alyssa Marcus; four great-grandchildren: Dominick, Jasmine, Leia and Elizabeth; two brothers: Royal (Norma) Olson and Jule (Val) Olson, both of Montevideo, MN; three sisters: Leona Lyngen of Montevideo, MN, June Krogstad of Granite Falls, MN and Dorothy Larson of Mesa, AZ; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Phyllis in 2000.
