Dwight Brellenthin, of Montevideo, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 25, 2016,  at the age of 70.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Mari Thorkelson officiating.  Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM the day of the service.

Dwight L. Brellenthin was born in Mora, MN to Alums and Ruth (Ramberg) Brellenthin on February 7, 1946.  He grew up in the Isanti area and graduated from high school.  He entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam War earning several medals during his tour of duty from 1967 to 1968.  He married Jari Johnson in 1968.   Dwight and Jari raised 5 children together.

For most of his life his career path was in over-the-road Long Haul truck driving from coast to coast including into Canada.  He enjoyed his time as a truck driver but the best time for him was coming home to his family.  He also enjoyed golfing and relaxing with his sons and other friends as well as fishing and playing cards.     Dwight retired in May 2015 to enjoy more time with Jari - his soul mate of 48 years, Sugar, his boys and the rest of the family.

Dwight is survived by his wife, Jari; his five children: Nick (Lesley) Brellenthin, Joe (Kelly) Brellenthin,  Carmen Kittelson, Carla Axelson and Andrea (Darrell) Axelson; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren,  his precious fur baby, Sugar; a brother, Doug (Karen) Brellenthin; a niece, Roxanne; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alums and Ruth, his grandparents; a nephew, Randy Brellenthin and very dear friends, Dwayne “Sonny” Bressen and Monica Krizak.
