Earl Lange, 79, of Montevideo, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2001 at 1:30 P.M. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Wayne D. Kopitzke will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
Earl John Lange was born July 8, 1921 at Havelock Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of John and Alma (Brust) Lange. He was baptized and confirmed at Rosewood Methodist Church and attended rural school in district #22. Earl served in the US Navy from 1942-1946 on a Destroyer Escort in the Atlantic and Pacific Arenas. He was united in marriage with Gladys Johnson, December 23, 1950 at Albert Lea, MN. They made their home in Montevideo. Earl was a farmer and an independent truck driver during his working years. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening and restoring old tractors. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the MN Valley Antique Farm Power Association and was a Life Member of the destroyer Escort Sailors Association.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; three sisters: Gertrude Bonin of Minneapolis, MN, Geraldine Sulflow of Montevideo, MN, and Arleen (Floyd) Zempel of Montevideo, MN; four brothers: Elmer (Carola) Lange of Willmar, MN, Wesley (Ione) Lange of Morris, MN, Leon (Carol) Lange of Montevideo, MN and Arnold (Loretta) Lange of Montevideo, MN; one sister-in-law, Jeannette Lange of Clara City, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, George Lange; two-brothers-in-law: Harvey Bonin and Leonard Sulflow; and one nephew, Morris Lange.
