Eda Ludlow was born on July 29, 1898, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Andrew and Susanna (Glore) Kolbenschlag. She was baptized in Fort Dodge, Iowa, confirmed at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Omro Township, and attended religious school in Omro Township.
On October 25, 1916, Eda was united in marriage with Percy Ludlow at Mora, MN. Two daughters were born to this union. Eda lived most of her life in Dawson except when they spent a couple of years working in Shipyards in Tacoma, WA during WW II. After her husband's death in 1975, Eda moved to Parkview Apartments. She continued to live there until she fell and broke her hip and then moved to the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson in September of 1990. Eda's talents were her craft works such as sewing and cooking and flower gardening. She also enjoyed reading her Bible, and traveling where she made several trips to the West Coast to visit family, Washington, DC, and Hawaii. Eda celebrated her 100th birthday on July 29, 1998, at a party given by her daughter Carolyn and her husband, Howard, at the Johnson Memorial Home.
Eda died on Wednesday, January 27, 1999, at the Johnson Memorial Home at the age of 100 years, 5 months, and 28 days.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Ebel and her husband, Howard, of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Joyce Morgan; five sisters: Louise Gilbertson, Kathryn Crosby, Marie Kvam, and Annie & Rose in infancy; and three brothers: Charlie, Frank, and Herman Kolbenschlag.
