Edmond Lyngen, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, December 9, 2004, at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 85.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 13, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev Gregory Gabriel officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Edmond Manford Lyngen was born on September 7, 1919 in Tunsberg Township of Chippewa County, MN to Peter and Dorthea (Stensrud) Lyngen. He was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church and graduated from Central High School in Montevideo in 1938. He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in the European Theatre. On January 8, 1960, he was united in marriage to Leona Olson at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He worked as a heavy equipment operator running his own equipment, worked at Lac qui Parle State Park, and as a maintenance engineer at the Video building and Parkview Towers before retiring in 1984. He was a member of VFW Post #380 in Montevideo and enjoyed working around the house, going for drives, watching car races and listening to Twins games.
He is survived by his wife Leona; a son, Michael Lyngen and his wife Jennifer of Alexandria, MN; a daughter, Kathleen Goss and her husband Richard of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren: Patrick and Elizabeth Goss and Aaron and Alison Lyngen; a sister, Stella Goulson of Montevideo, MN; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Lloyd, Palmer, and Walter Lyngen and two sisters, Alvina Sundheim and Verna Finsaas.
