Edna Hofland, of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 3, 2007 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 90.  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Ehling officiating.  Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church.

Edna Louise (Rygh) Hofland was born on September 3, 1917 in Galesburg, ND to Gerhard and Inga Rygh.  She grew up in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School before attending Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN. In March of 1959 she was united in marriage to Carl Hofland in Britton, SD.  They lived in Britton until moving to Montevideo in 1979.  She spent much of her life caring for others as a nurse in Minneapolis and Britton, SD, where she was also hospital administrator.  She loved music and shared her talent with others by playing piano and organ at First Lutheran Church in Britton, SD and Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.  She was currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and a resident at the Luther Haven Nursing Home.

She is survived by a sister, Mabel Flo and her husband Paul of Ellsworth, WI; a niece Valerie Morrison and her husband John of Minneapolis; and two step-children: Carlann Ooten of Riceville, IA and Rod Hofland and his wife Gretchen of Apple Valley, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl in 1991; three brothers:  Richard, Elmer and Ted Rygh; and two sisters: Luella and Gladys Rygh.
