Edna L. (Johnson) Perske

Edna Perske, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 102.  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Greg Hall officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the family being present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Edna L. (Johnson) Perske was born on September 2, 1904 in Lac qui Parle County, MN to Lauritz and Emma (Moen) Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter and attended school in Lac qui Parle Village and in Boyd.  On January 22, 1927 she was united in marriage to Oscar J. Anderson.  They farmed in Camp Release Township until his death in 1941 as a result of an automobile accident.  In 1952, Edna was united in marriage to Albert Perske.  She moved to her home in Montevideo in 1969, living there until moving to Homefront in July of 2006.  She was an excellent cook, cooking at various cafes in Montevideo for many years.  She was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, helped organize the Sunday School and was an active Ladies Aid member.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, crocheting and all sorts of handwork, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by three daughters: Waunita Kanten and her husband Floyd of Milan, MN, Elizabeth Jurgenson and her husband Richard of Montevideo and Ramona Erickson and her husband Keith of Montevideo; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; an infant son Richard Johan; two brothers: Leonard and Vernon Johnson; and five sisters: Cora Graven, Charlotte Callies, Verna Ninnemann, Melmora Jordahl and Jeanette Schuller.
