Edna Stockdill, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 96.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 8, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Woolverton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 2 - 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Edna Caroline (Macziewski) Stockdill was born on May 13, 1905 in Vernon Center, MN to Ernest and Pauline (Erdner) Macziewski. Shortly after she was born they moved to the Montevideo area, where she grew up and attended rural schools. On November 7, 1923 she was united in marriage to Glenn Stockdill at Trinity Lutheran Church in Havelock Twp. They farmed in the Montevideo area for six years before moving to the Paynesville, MN area to continue farming. They retired and moved into Paynesville in 1984. Shortly after her husband’s death in 1988, she entered the nursing home in Paynesville. In 1996 she moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville for many years and was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening needlework and playing cards. She loved children and baby sat for many families.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn in 1988; by brothers, William, Gustav, Erick, Arthur and Herbert Macziewski and by a sister, Ida Seeman.
