Edna Mae was born April 20th, 1924 in Port Arthur, Texas, to C.B. and Ethel (Atkinson) Manley. She graduated from Anahuac, Texas High school in 1942. Toni served in the US Navy during WWII after attending Sam Houston College. Toni traveled throughout the United States as a member of the Hormel Girls Corps, an advertising group for the George A. Hormel Co., out of Austin, TX. It was during that time that she met her husband Tom. They were married May 29th, 1949 in Austin. Tom's job with Hormel took them out of Texas, to Fairmont, MN, and Armstrong IA. In 1965 they were transferred to Montevideo, with 6 kids ranging in age from age 2-13 years. Toni was a stay-at-home Mom for many years until she started working as a Front Desk clerk at the Hotel Hunt, which later was known as the Best Western Royale Inn. Toni was active in the United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, and singing with Sweet Adelines for many years. Following retirement, Toni and Tom spent winters in Florida, where they met many wonderful friends who have remained close over the years. After Tom passed away in 1995, Toni continued to winter in Florida every year until the fall of 2013. Toni was well-known as an accomplished sculptor, a hobby that brought joy to all who saw her creations, and especially to those who were lucky enough to have one of her pieces in their home. Another passion of Toni's was collecting seashells. She was fussy about which shells she would keep, and had a keen eye for shark's teeth. Toni loved traveling, going on cruises, eating out, and her cats, Tiger and Tina.
Toni is survived by 5 children: Donna (Lee) Rogers-VanOverbeke, David (Karen) Rogers, Jim (Brenda) Rogers, John Rogers, Beverly Khromachou; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, J.B. (Erma) Manley; and a very special friend, Don Wert.
Preceding her in death were here parents; her husband, Tom in 1995; son, Steven; granddaughter, Katie; great-grandson, Finn; a brother, C.B.; a sister, Merle; and cats Tiger and Tina.
