Eugene Brace, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, March 15, 2003 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 77.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at 1:30 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Paul Losik officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Edward Eugene Brace was born on November 12, 1925 in Catsby, OK to George and Audrey (Shaw) Brace. He moved with his family to the Redwood Falls, MN area, where he graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1943. On November 23, 1943 he was united in marriage to Alice Brinker in Morton, MN. They lived in Vesta, MN for a short time and then Morton, MN until moving to Olivia, MN in 1951. They moved to Montevideo, MN in 1978. He did farm work near Vesta and while in Morton and Olivia he worked as a carpenter, plumber and police officer before going to work for the Post Office. He worked as a mail carrier and Postal Supervisor in Olivia and Montevideo before retiring in 1985. Following his retirement he drove school bus and the city bus for several years. He was an active member of The Church of the Nazarene in Olivia, where he served in various leadership positions and taught Sunday School. He attended and was active at Calvary Baptist Church in Montevideo. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping and canoeing.
He is survived by his wife Alice; ten children: Loretta Young-Love of Warm Springs, GA, Marilyn Keating of Cooper City, FL, Howard Brace of Hartford, AL, Connie Larson of Mesa, AZ, Rosalie Pequeno of Goshan, IN, David Brace of the Philippines, Carol King of Macon, GA, Melanie Vigil of Barstow, CA, Timothy Brace of Germany, and Kellie Brace of Montevideo; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Keith Brace of Tucson, AZ; three sisters: Nina Owens of Litchfield, MN, Ella Mae Wagner of Blackduck, MN, and Helen Sawin of Everett, WA; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Christopher Brouwer; and one sister, Ellen Ragan.
