Edward Harris

October 8, 1917 — April 20, 1994

Edward (Ed) Harris of Montevideo died on Wednesday April 20, 1994 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 76.  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday April 25, 1994 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Roger Rekstad officiating.  Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Ed was born on October 8, 1917 to Edward M. and Alice Harris in Dell Rapids, South Dakota.  He was baptized in Dell Rapids before moving to Appleton,Mn., where he grew up.  He graduated from Montevideo High School and served in the U S Army from 1941 - 1945.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Thielke on June 15, 1942 at St. Paulus Evengelical Lutheran Church in San Francisco, Ca.  He was confirmed in 1946 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton and lived in several locations before moving to Montevideo in 1956.  He worked at Zaisers and as feed manager of Farmers Equity Elevator before retiring in 1980.  Following retirement he worked for a number of years as custodian of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was an active church board member, Sunday School and Release Time Teacher; was a DAC teacher; a member of the Gideons; and was a member of the Milan American Legion Post.  He enjoyed camping, driving and looking at crops, teaching, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by a special friend - Ramona Worsech of Montevideo and her sons -Paul and David (Sarah) ; by sons - David (Evie) of Alexandria, Mn.; Robert (Michelle) of Detroit Lakes, Mn.;  and Jon (LuAnn) of Appleton, Mn.; by a daughter - Mary Harris of  Coon Rapids, Mn.; 10 grandchildren; by brothers - Jim  (Peggy) of Spring Lake Park, Mn. and Dick  (Cynthia) of Denver, Co.; by brothers-in-law - Del (Anna Mae) Thielke of Dawson, Mn. and Eldon (Alice) Thielke of Milbank, SD; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Dorothy in 1974, by a sister - Marie Osterberg, and by a brother - William Harris.
