Edward Shourds

Edward Shourds of Granite Falls, MN died on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Hospice House in St. Paul at the age of 91.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Edward Richard Shourds was born on May 12, 1933 in Ghent, MN, to Gladys Boyer.  He attended school in Ghent.  In 1951 at the age of 18 he married Ardys Dale in Minneapolis.  They had one child together, Richard.  Ed worked for MidContinent Cabinets in Cottonwood, MN.  He also had a Schweigert Meat Truck and sold to various locations in southwest Minnesota.  He retired from a sales position at Almich’s Grocery in Granite Falls, MN.

Ed enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, and baking bread.  He loved to travel and camp.  Most of all he cherished his time spent with family, especially with great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his siblings: Mary Christopher, Chapin, SC, Donald Shourds, Glendale, AZ; grandsons: Dustin (Julie) Shourds, Jeremy (Tabatha) Shourds, Montevideo, MN, and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Boyer; wife, Ardy Shourds; son, Richard Shourds; and brothers, Raymond & Jerry Shourds.
