Edward Wick

January 2, 1921 — September 30, 1993

Edward Wick, Sr., 72, of Montevideo died September 30, 1993 at the Chippewa County -Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo.

Funeral services were held 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 6 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Warren Broughton  officiated and interment was in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.


Edward Melvin Wick was born January 2, 1921 near Montevideo, MN the son of Anton and Mabel (Lund) Wick.  He attended Montevideo high school and later attended Dunwoody Institute.  Edward entered the US Navy January 23, 1942 and was discharged September 29, 1945.  He was united in marriage with Rose Smith June 2, 1945 in Miami, FL.  They moved back to Montevideo in 1946 where he farmed and later worked as a mechanic for Rhodes Farm Service.  Edward also drove school bus for Simon Olson Bus Service for 30 years.  He retired in the fall of 1992. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and the V.F.W.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; two daughters: Sandra Winge and her husband Gary of Montevideo and Debra Kroon and her husband David of Fairmont, MN; four sons: Edward M., Jr. and his wife Debra of Delano, MN, Lyle and his wife Colleen of Crookston, MN, David and his wife Nancy of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kevin and his wife Tara of Bethesda, MD; 15 grandchildren; three sisters: Solvieg Belseth and Julianna Belseth both of Milan, MN and Alice Laechelt and her husband Merlyn of Clarkfield, MN; one brother Clifford and his wife Barbara of Montevideo; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one niece, Cindy Wick.
