Edward O. Agre Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2003 at his home in Camp Release Township of rural Montevideo at the age of 77 after a long battle with bone cancer.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 1:00 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Roger K. Olness officiating.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Edward (Ed) O. Agre, Jr. was born on August 29, 1925 in Montevideo, MN to Edward and Clara (Larson) Agre. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter and attended rural schools. He served in the National Guard and was declared essential and necessary as an agricultural worker as determined in accordance with the criteria established by the Department of Agriculture during WW II. He was a lifelong resident of Camp Release Township, where he farmed until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Ed enjoyed collecting cars, collecting and flying airplanes, and bird watching. He was a friend to many, young and old, and enjoyed visiting them. He had a heart for people, always putting others before himself and helping those in need. He was a loving, generous, hard-working man who had a deep love and appreciation for his family. He always had a smile for everyone, and had the ability to brighten anyone’s day. He touched the lives and hearts of many people. He will always be remembered and will be missed very much.
He is survived by his children: Jan Albrecht and Larry Agre and his wife Cindy of Montevideo; his grandchildren: Nikki Albrecht of Montevideo, Ryan Agre and his wife Marcy of Leighton, IA, Nathan Agre and his wife Carla of Burnsville, MN, Tristan Agre and his fiancé Adrienne of Iowa, and Lacey Agre of Montevideo; a great grandson, Bryant Agre; a sister, Amy Runnoe of Park Rapids, MN; a nephew, Gene Runnoe; his nieces: Sandra Klinkhammer and her husband John, Suzanne Phillips and her husband Michael, and Jennifer Arnoldy and her husband David; as well as by several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Adam Albrecht; and by an infant sister and brother.
