Elaine Anderson, formerly of Milan, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville at the age of 77.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Rev. Kristine Isder will officiate and interment will be at the Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson -TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before the services on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Elaine Hildegaard (Borstad) Anderson was born on September 25, 1937 in Madison, MN to Arnold and Stella (Lund) Borstad. She was baptized on October 31, 1937 at home and later confirmed at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. She graduated from Milan High School in 1955 and attended a secretary school in Minneapolis. On June 10, 1957 she was united in marriage to Thorbjorn “Tom” Anderson at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. They lived in Northfield, Litchfield, Rochester, Golden Valley, Milan and Ortonville where he was engaged in banking. She was a member of the Ortonville Study Club and Bridge Clubs. Elaine enjoyed knitting, handwork, gardening, volunteering, traveling, reading, and playing cards. She was very active at her church in circle, Altar Guild, Day of Love at FELC, chaired Scandanavian Food Fair, a Deacon, on Lay Ministry, and in choir.
She is survived by one son, James Anderson and his wife Paulette of Milan; two daughters: Julie Sammon of Odessa, MN and Jay Sammon of Ortonville, MN; and Elizabeth “Beth” Swanson and her husband Tim of Ortonville, MN; ten grandchildren: Isaac Anderson, Peter (Andra) Anderson, Tristan Anderson, Christopher Doney, Nicole (Ryan) Meints, Riley (Julia) Sammon, Emily (Mickey) Rademacher, Evan Sammon, and Austin and Lauren Swanson; six great-grandchildren: Tyler Sammon, Harper Sammon, Brielle Rademacher, Emmett Stevens, Caden Meints, and Logan Meints; an AFS daughter, Jackie Meyer and her husband Gerry of Madison, AL; two sisters: Marjorie (Gale) Dvergsten of Proctor, MN and Janelle (Mark) Streed of Milan, MN; three sisters-in-law: Solveig Halbakken and her husband Erling of Fergus Falls, MN, Judith Stoutland of Northfield, MN and Rachel Knudsen and her husband John of Moscow, ID; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Tom on January 2, 2004.
